Olivier Kazuma

Olivier Kazuma Michihiro was born in 1995 in Osaka, Japan.

Influenced by his family, he was exposed to films and literature from an early age. Although he aspired to pursue a career in visual storytelling, he chose to major in theatre at university in order to broaden his perspective. During his studies, he participated in over twenty stage and screen productions as an actor, as well as a screenwriter and director.
After graduating, he joined a television production company, where he worked as an assistant director on TV dramas, a news video editor, and a reporter. He later moved to a publishing-related company, where he served as a director of video content. He is currently affiliated with Visual Voice, a company involved in producing projects such as the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia.
In 2023, alongside his professional work, he wrote and directed TRACÉ, his first fully realized film project since graduating from university. Composed entirely of a single sequence shot and presented in reverse chronology, the film was screened at festivals both in Japan and internationally, receiving several awards including Best Film. In 2025, he created his second film, 23:07, which won the Grand Prix at the Nasu Short Film Festival.
